DFO advises that the 3Ps cod fishery for the less than 65 foot fleet, which was originally scheduled to close Saturday, January 16, will be extended due to the current low catch levels.

This fishery is expected to remain open, to fish harvesters who have IQ remaining, until Sunday, February 28 when the annual spawning closure will come into effect.

Fish harvesters are further reminded that the portion of 3Psb inside a line extending from Lally Head to Pool’s Cove Head will close at 6:00 p.m.

Fish harvesters are required to have their licences and vessel registrations renewed for 2010 prior to fishing.
