DFO advises fish harvesters that the Stewardship Cod Fishery will open in NAFO Division 3L - Cape Race to Cape St. Mary's at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009. This fishery will close at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009.

All other areas will open on September 7, 2009 and close on October 3, 2009, except for Green Bay ( Middle Arm to Triton ) which will open on September 28, 2009 and close on October 24, 2009.

Fish harvesters must renew their groundfish licence and pay a cod individual quota (IQ) fee and arrange at-sea observer coverage services prior to fishing. Fish harvesters are reminded to fish within their homeport area, as outlined in licence conditions.

Compliance with management measures is essential for the success of this fishery. This will include the completion and return of logbooks.
