DFO advises that the commercial eel fyke net fishery in inland waters will open on Saturday, August 15, 2009 This fishery will close on Saturday, October 31, 2009.

Fish harvesters are reminded that closures of scheduled salmon rivers due to environmental conditions will also result in the closure of the eel fishery on these rivers. During the closure, fish harvesters are permitted to leave their fyke nets in the river; however, the bag on the end of the net must be removed to permit the escapement of salmonids and eels.
